Welcome to East Barnet Allotments and Gardens Association, Cat Hill, East Barnet, EN4 8HP.
We are one of the larger Allotment sites in Barnet, occupying 9 acres and consisting of some 172 plots measuring roughly either 10 or 5 poles. The site is a quiet, sunny area tucked away to the north of Cat Hill surrounded by housing and Danegrove School playing field.
The site is operated under a 38 year Lease from Barnet Council and is managed by a Committee, elected annually by the members of the Association. EBAGA is an unincorporated organisation with a Constitution. Click here to see the Constitution.
All plots have an easily accessible water supply. There are 3 car parking areas on the site and a toilet block.
The Trading Hut, open on most Saturday and Sunday mornings, has a stock of keenly priced compost, fertilisers, seeds, garden sundries. It also has a supply of tools and machinery available for members’ use. (link to pricelist, machinery use, rules)
On payment of a membership fee, applicants become members of our Association. They are also required to sign a Letting Agreement which details the regulations governing our site. Click here to see the Agreement Document.
Our members range from young families to very senior citizens and come from a wide variety of backgrounds and countries of origin. We welcome complete beginners as well as more experienced gardeners.
We are a friendly community and hold a number of social events throughout the year including a summer barbeque, annual produce show and a New Year “wassailing” celebration.
Allotmenteering is a fun, healthy and rewarding pastime offering relaxation, exercise, fresh food and a ready-made community of friends. It does, however, demand a significant contribution in time and effort to be successful. If you are interested or thinking of taking up an allotment please go to our “Renting a Plot” page.
